Jessica Sherlock

JESSICA SHERLOCK started She Oak Films with the aim of captivating audiences through visually compelling screen content and immersive storytelling.

After graduating SAE Institute in 2023, Jessica began freelancing as a director and content creator in Meanjin/Brisbane, building relationships with local organisations, businesses, and musicians and following captivating stories where they arise. Whether through storytelling, documentary, or music videos, she is driven by the aspiration to convey the idiosyncrasies of humanity and foster connections.

Jessica ardently advocates for amplifying the presence of complex and empowered female characters on screen. Simultaneously, she is dedicated to showcasing distinctive Australian narratives to audiences. This is evident in her work including THE GREY UNKNOWN, a finalist in Orion International Film Festival and CONCRETE DENIZENS, screened at Melbourne Women in Film Festival and Sydney Women’s International Film Festival.

Jessica also works for Bus Stop Employment, an inclusive film production company and employment service for all people with disability seeking work in the screen industry. Prior to her work in film and television, Jessica resided in the UK working as a Social Worker and travelled throughout Europe and Asia, where she explored the richness of human stories and adventure. She draws on these threads in her creative practice.
